Canadian Champ! Johnny Utah!

2008 Champion!

We’ve only just recovered from a crazy night of Air Guitar.  In one of the most legendary evenings ever; Johnny Utah took home the crown as the 2008 Canadian Air Guitar Champion.

Johnny Utah was the runner-up in 2007 and flew himself to Finland to compete in the dark horse round.  It is great to see Johnny’s dream of representing Canada at the World’s this August.

It turned out to be quite the night including a suprise visit from Cap’t Morgan as judge and guest competitor!

More photos and information to come for now we have to take it easy…

Air Guitar goes Kenya

From the home office in Finland this came across our desks:

The message of air guitar has now reached the African continent, when Kenya joins in the Air Guitar World Championships and the AGWC Network. The official number of air guitar countries grows thus to nineteen. The first official Kenyan Air Guitar Championships will be celebrated later in the summer.

The rock folk of Nairobi is eagerly waiting for the first airy chords the rock music is flowing over the country and the cities are currently reigned by a strong underground scene. Gradually recovering from the recent violent conflict, Kenya’s organizers believe in the peace promoting power of air guitar. “Many local initiatives have been launched to emphasize peace in the country, and it is this that got us thinking about what we could do as a company to help spread the word of peace. That is when I hit on the idea to organize a fun event that would help people laugh, chill out and release tension. So I thought, why not air guitar?” tells the Kenya’s air guitar organizer Patrick Kariuki of PR Masters LTD.

Kenya’s first official air guitar champion will travel to Finland to take the stage with other national AGWC champions in the 13th world final on 22 August 2008 in Oulu.

We have a champion!

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Glen Airy Glen Rocks of Toronto is off to Finland to represent Canada at the World Air Guitar Championships in September.

Last night at Lee’s Palace had it all smashed beer bottles, broken noses, stage dives, flying wigs.  Glen Airy Glen Rocks had a spirited duel with the western champion Johnny Utah winning by only 0.1 points.

We’d like to thank all those who came out to support their favorites and look forward to a great 2008 national championship.  Look for more details to be released in the first couple months of the year.

For now, we’ll be holding our devil horns high for Glen Airy Glen Rocks as he wears the maple leaf proud.

A special thank you to all our partners in all the events, venues, athletes, sponsors and the people who pulled it all off.

Peace.

PS Coming soon photos and clips from the Canadian Championships, check back soon.
